Eleverne arbejder med genretræk og temaer i folkeeventyr og kunsteventyr. Vi arbejder med at udvide kendskebet til analytiske begrber inden for litterær analyse. Eeleverne introduceres til flere litterære læsemetoder ud over genrelæsninger for at give eleverne en begyndende forståelse af historiske læsninger, psykoanalytiske læsninger og strukturalistiske læsninger. Forløbet dækker både centrale europæiske folkeeventyr, der er velkendte i den engelsktalende verden, såvel som specifikt engelske folkeeventyr.

The US Election and Presidential speeches
In this cross-disciplinary course we are going to look at the American election 2024 and talk the electoral system and analyse different presidential speeches. In this way the students will practise identifying rhetorical and stylistic devices.
This will lead on to SRO, in which you are going to choose a presidential speech to analyse from two different subjects English and history and apply the methods pertaining the two subjects.

In this course, the students will be introduced to three theories about humour - the superiority theory, the incongruity theory of the relief theory. Furthermore, we are going to look at various humourous devices such as satire, irony, stereotypes, Paradox, the absurd.
We are going to look at how different texts and genres apply the theories and devices.
The students will be asked to write a brief text about what they find funny and why.

In this course, we are going to read various genres of the Gothic. Through Poe we are going to investigate Romanticism, the uncanny and the elements that characterise the beautiful and the sublime.
We are going to read The Boogeyman by Stephen King to focus on a more modern approach to the Gothic and apply Freud's theory of the mind to the short story.
Lastly, we will read an excerpt from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
In all of the texts, we will look for Gothic elements and suspense and their effect on the reader.
