I forløbet læses tekster og ses film med fokus på individets oplevelse af krig samt måden, hvorpå krig portrætteres. Der startes med en definition af krigslitteratur og de problemer, der kan følge, når en forfatter forsøger at fortælle en sand krigshistorie. Derefter følger en kronologisk række af tekster om krig. Der er kun i begrænset omfang fokus på de historiske og politiske årsager til krig. Grammatik dækkes løbende.
