Digital Youth
As social networking sites and other genres of social media become increasingly widespread, people tend to communicate their identities more and more online. Do our personalities form our online identities or is it the other way round?
This course focuses on some of the consequences of today’s pervasive digitalization of society. The students will analyse various texts (articles, short story, film), dealing with the relation between our online identities and our personalities. As a theoretical framework sociologist Erwing Goffman’s dramaturgical theory will be discussed and applied.
