The Many Faces of Love EXAM
Vi læser blandt andet et uddrag af Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet samt et par sonetter. Vi ser på forskellige former og udtryk for kærlighed i forskellige perioder.
Forløbet indledes med baggrundsviden om renæssancen, the Elizabethan period, for at fokusere på den periode Shakespeare levede og skrev i. Nøgleord hertil: The English Reformation, the Great Chain of Being, macro- and microcosmos, order and chaos.
I forbindelse med læsning af uddrag af tragedien Romeo and Juliet fokuserer vi på genren og den tragiske helt samt begreberne dramatic irony, hubris, nemesis, hamartia/tragic flaw, catharsis, anagnorisis. Desuden fokus på sprog og stilistik; fx. Iambic pentameter, blank verse, personification, metaphor, contrasts.
Vi sammenligner også med Baz Luhrmanns moderne filmversion fra 1996.
Endelig ser vi på kærlighed i Shakespeares sonetter samt i materiale fra andre perioder.
