Titel 1
Crime Fiction*
Forløbet skal lære eleverne genrekendskab til Crime Fiction-genren og de dertilhørende undergenrer og hvordan disse analyseres. De forskellige tekster af amerikansk og britisk oprindelse, peger frem mod en forståelse af genren og dens popularitet, og hvorledes teksternes fokus skal forstås og analyseres. Der læses flere historier med fokus på genrerne 'Whodunit, Howcatchem og Hard-boiled fiction'. Fokus har også været på at finde fælles tematikker for historierne samt på karaktererne i crime fiction-historier.
Forløbet vil desuden indeholde elevpræsentationer ud fra analyse af teksterne.
Til slut vises en nyfortolkning af Sherlock Holmes (1. afsnit i 'Sherlock-serien'), hvor eleverne bl,a. arbejder med begrebet 'the Science of Deduction' og små præsentationer af mindre udsnit af afsnittet.

Forløbet tager udgangspunkt i kapitlet 'Twisted Stories' i bogen 'Choices' af Mette Hermann fra 2023, men andre tekster/film er også brugt.
Eleverne har læst tekster som alle har indeholdt et plot twist og derunder har vi berørt begreberne 'unreliable narrator' såvel som 'foreshadowing'. Formålet er at give eleverne en dybere forståelse for fortælleteknik og lære dem at gennemskue, hvordan forfattere og instruktører manipulerer læserens forventninger gennem spor og vildledning.
Der er blevet arbejdet med både tekster, film og kortfilm i forløbet.

Indian issues and the partition of 1947*
Eksamensforløb:
Dette emne har et fokus på Indien som tidligere koloni, og dennes betydning for det britiske imperie. Grundlaget for emnet er 'the Partition' hvor vi diskuterer forløbet af delingen af landet og Storbritanniens rolle i optøjerne som fulgte delingen. Der læses både historiske tekster som baggrundsmateriale samt skønliterære historier fra hovedsageligt indiske og britiske forfattere. Særligt følelsen af at være splittet mellem to lande (Indien og Pakistan) og skammen over at være blevet omvendt til en anden religion berøres i teksterne. Herunder vurderes især hvordan de literære begreber ironi og sarkasme bruges af forfatterne. Vi ser også på 'political cartoons' fra engelske aviser i tiden med Partition. Tidligt i forløbet ser vi også dokumentaren 'Writing with Fire' om kvindelige jounalister fra den laveste kaste som eksempel på et af Indiens 'issues'. Særligt fokus er på mand/kvinde-forhold, men også den økonomiske ulighed i Indien og manglen på uddannelse i visse områder.
Begreber fra undervisningen: Caste system, child marriage, White man's Burden, colonialism, orientalism, cultural appropriation, skewed sex ratio, gender roles, secular country vs non-secular country, dowry, stereotypes.
Til sidst i forløbet har vi kort sammenholdt Indien med begrebet Lingua Franca.

Forløbet starter med et lille crash course i amerikansk historie, herunder frontier-mentaliteten (can-do spirit, individualism, self-reliance, euqality of opportunity mm), uafhængighedserklæringen, borgerkrigen mellem Nord- og Sydstaterne, The Harlem Rennaiscance og de vigtigste amerikanske symboler. Der fokuseres på de sortes rettigheder og årsager til splittelsen i samfundet. Herunder læses tekster af Langston Hughes og rap af 2Pac som sættes i kontrast til Donna Fargo's sang "U.S. of A". Klassen har set filmen '12 Years a Slave' i historie-faget og vi laver analyser af filmiske virkemidler i udvalgte scener derfra. Desuden har klassen set filmen 'American History X' og arbejdet med hovedpersonens udvikling fra nynazist til almindelig borger, samt hvor svært det kan være at slippe ud af den sociale arv man overtager fra familie og omgangskreds.

Social Classes in Britain*
Forløbet omhandler især briternes selvforståelse og hang til at opdeles i klasser. Forløbet lægger vægt på hvordan synet på klasse og ulighed udtrykkes i sange (Fx 'Common People' af Pulp og film, fx ”I, Daniel Blake” samt diverse tekster. Perspektivet er både historisk som i ”Downton Abbey” og mere nutidigt som i historien 'The Happiest Days of your Life' hvor vi også har snakket om uddannelsessystemet i Storbritannien. Der opereres både med den traditionelle tre-deling i overklasse/elite – middelklasse – arbejderklasse/underklasse samt i den seneste syv-deling af klasserne.
