Identity and Relationships

Texts and Assignments
We have worked with the topic Identity and Relationships through the short stories Clara’s Day by Michael Collier and Son of Satan by Charles Bukowski. Students learned to compare texts and to distinguish between analysis (microscope 🔍 – what’s on the page) and interpretation (telescope 🔭 – what it means for the character, the theme, or society). We worked with the PEE model (Point – Evidence – Explain) and practiced how to cite quotes correctly.
Key literary elements included point of view, plot, mood, setting, atmosphere, and characterisation.
The first written assignment was My Tribes, based on the idea that our identity is shaped by the many groups we belong to. The second assignment focused on The Fan Club (Rona Maynard, 2022 ), which provided insight into bullying and peer pressure. As optional reading, we included The Terror by Junot Díaz (2015), and we also watched the short film Donkey. We have also watched Captain Fantastic.

Oral & Group Activities
We practiced spoken English through activities such as Quiz og byt: Who are we?, Dilemmas, and Opiniometer, focusing on expressing opinions and reflecting on personal identity and belonging. We also had an escape room linked to Clara`s day to practice the literary terms we have learned.

Grammar
We worked with verbs, including congruency, verb tenses, and regular and irregular verbs.
