Titel 2 Great Speeches in History

UFÆRDIGT
Forløbet har haft fokus på vigtige taler gennem tiden, hovedsageligt centreret om USA's historie. Eleverne har lært om retoriske virkemidler og arbejdet med begreber som appelformer, argumenttyper og metaforik i de udvalgte taler, hvortil der også kortfattet er redegjort for den historiske baggrund. Afslutningsvist har eleverne skrevet og præsenteret mundtligt deres egen tale.

Titel 6 Understanding Horror

In this theme, we will explore the horror genre, primarily through excerpts from classic horror novels and a short story. We will also examine theories about what frightens us and why we are fascinated by horror—often either loving or hating the genre. We will compare horror texts from different time periods and also compare horror across various media, thereby discussing different linguistic and cinematic devices. Finally - in relation to the class trip to Stockholm - we will do some work on different podcasts of horror and crime.

Titel 7 Language of Humor

In this theme, the students will work with examples of humor based on various theories about why we find certain things funny. They will work with shared examples as well as group-specific materials, which they will present to the class. The focus will be both situational and linguistic, and attention will be given to the possibilities and limitations of the genre in relation to literature and cinema.

Titel 10 Multicultural Britain

In this theme, we have worked with multiculturalism in the United Kingdom. We have read various articles that shed light on issues of integration in the UK and raise questions such as: What is it like to be an immigrant in the UK? And how do other segments of the population feel about multiculturalism? What is the difference between being a first-, second-, and third-generation immigrant? We have focused on historical, cultural, and societal aspects of the UK. In addition, we have worked with the English language as a global lingua franca.
