1.1 American history and identity.
During this course, the student will gain knowledge on the history behind the USA, how it came to be and how the US as we know it today is shaped by this history.
The second part of the course will focus on the values and identiy which the US citizens contain and how these values can be directly tracked back to the past and history of the country.

Throughout the course you'll be introduced to analytical tools such as narration, setting, characterization, different genres and much more.

Værklæsning/reading a fictional work
On the basis of what you have learned about analyzing fiction, you'll now read and work with an entire novel.
You'll get to choose from three different books which you will read with other students. You'll do group work and reading circles thoughout the course and finish with a presentation of the book in front of the class.
