Titel 9

The American Dream, 2 year

Forløbet har fokuseret på grundlæggelsen af USA som nation, samt den historiske baggrund for amerikansk national identitet og værdier. Vi har i forløbet beskæftiget os med USA som en nation grundlagt af immigranter, med et fælles selvbillede som pionerer med gåpåmod til at udforske det nye og ukendte, ”the frontier”, og som optimister i forhold til at have mulighed for at opnå den amerikanske drøm. Denne drøm om succes og fremgang gennem hårdt arbejde har vi perspektiveret til i dag. Vi har kigget på de værdier og rettigheder der er skrevet ind i den amerikanske forfatning, og hvad de betød dengang og op gennem tiden.

Skriftlighed: Eleverne har individuelt afleveret et analytisk essay om Amy Tans novelle ”Rules of the Game” om en immigrantfamilie og deres oplevelser af kulturforskelle og at kunne begå sig i det amerikanske samfund.  Herudover har de gruppevist skrevet et manuskript til en tale om The New Frontier, som de har leveret mundtligt.

Grammatik: Vi har haft fokus på ordklassekendskab, især forskellen på adjektiver og adverbier, adjektivernes gradbøjning,  samt forskellige typer af  adverbier.

Titel 10

Protest Songs, 2 year

Dette forløb har fokuseret på protestsangen som indholdsmæssig genre der går på tværs af musikalske genrer. Vi har opbygget en analytisk værktøjskasse til at undersøge protestsanges funktion, formål og indhold med en blanding af retoriske fagbegreber og lyriske fagbegreber. Her har vi set på om sangene søgte  at drage publikum sammen om fælles værdier (magnetic songs), eller om de primært ville give udtryk for kunstnerens holdninger til emnet (rhetorical songs), samt om de søgte at udpege et problem i samfundet (epideictic songs), eller om de tilbød nogle løsningsforslag på problemet (deliberative songs). Vi har bevæget os igennem forskellige historiske perioder og sat sangene ind i en samfundsmæssig kontekst. Emnemæssigt har sangene beskæftiget sig med klasse og arbejderforhold, raceulighed, diskrimination og politivold, samt Vietnam-krigen. Der har fortrinsvist været tale om amerikanske sange, men vi har også haft et par afstikkere til Storbritannien og set på punkmusik.

Skriftlighed: Eleverne har skrevet en business email hvor de skulle pitche en selvvalgt protest-musiker til et pladeselskab. Herudover indeholdt afleveringen en mundtligt del med refleksioner om valg af kunstner, genre og emne, samt om målrettet kommunikation og markedsføring.

Advertising and Business Ethics, 2 year

Dette forløb har haft fokus på reklameanalyse, og vi har derfor beskæftiget os med analysemetoder og fagbegreber til at analysere både billed- og videoreklamer fra et visuelt, auditivt, retorisk og merkantilt perspektiv. Herudover har vi set på målgrupper og virksomhedskommunikation, samt hvilken identitet virksomheden gerne vil udstråle med sin markedsføring. Dette har også involveret tekstlæsning og samtale om hvad brands og deres værdier betyder for individuelle forbrugere. Vi har diskuteret etiske aspekter og problematikker i markedsføring og branding. Herudover har vi med udgangspunkt i filmen The Wolf of Wall Street talt om virksomhedskultur og strategier, og diskuteret etiske dilemmaer i den forbindelse.
