Titel 1 Twisted Minds

Twisted Minds - approaching written texts.
Our focus is to work with text analysis, introducing terms and concepts in relation to working with fiction. The texts in question all have surprise endings so we work with composition, characters, environment, setting, language, theme and message. In addition, the students write a great deal as we go along. Texts are taken from "Open Wide", Bækgaard m.fl., Lindhardt og Ringhof, 2015

Titel 2 The American Dream (eksamensemne)

Where do American values stem from? The ideals of equality, opportunity, self-reliance and individualism will be looked at in various literary works and genres. How is it possible to go from rags to riches if at all? Do we have the same chances or starting points in life? We shall explore the notion of the American dream in history and in the contemporary American society.

Titel 3 Streets of London (eksamensemne)

The city of London will be the focal point in this course as we read texts which are centered in and around London through history. We'll also have a closer look at multicultural aspects of London and the question of class and race.
Focus will be on text analysis of various genres.

Titel 4 Imperial Britain (eksamensemne)

This course will focus on literary and non-fiction texts about the British empire. Taking our starting point in Victorian Britain, we shall look at the influence of the British colonial powers on the indigenous populations in selected countries and examine the cultural clashes and consequences of the settlements. How has colonialism affected the countries today?

Grammatik og sprogligt arbejde pågår gennem 1. og 2.g i gymnasiet som en integreret del af undervisningen, bl.a. i tilknytning til fokusområder/emnelæsning, skriftligt arbejde, tekstproduktioner etc. Til brug i undervisningen anvendes i-bogen Engram på minlaering.dk samt grammatikbogen "Getting Started". Desuden anvendes følgende ordbøger: Gyldendals røde ordbøger samt følgende engelsk-engelsk ordbøger: Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, Merriam-Webster, Longman.
