Aspects of America (eksamensemne)
This introduces the students to different aspects of America historically and in literature. The major focus point is frontier life and how it has shaped American values and self-image, for example freethinking, self-reliance, non-conformity, growth and renewal of the individual, revolt against tradition and established institutions, civil disobedience, brotherhood of man, nature and spiritual unity and educational reform. In continuation of this, we have discussed what values dominate American culture and thinking today and how these influence American politics and the structure and principles of the government. The students also worked on a project where they had to present key points of American history in groups. In connection with their SRO, the class analysed campaign videos from the Midterm Election 2022.
