The topic has trained in depth-readings and characterization, and the students have trained psychological readings based on Freudian theories (personality model, the uncanny, doppeltgänger motif)
Important literary devices: point of no return, climax, plot twist, point of view, composition, setting, foreshadowing, suspense.
Main genres worked with: short stories, film, novel, lyrics, music.

Within this topic the students have also had their first SRP course in collaboration with Music. As creative outcome the students composed new music and wrote lyrics for the film Black Swan.

Titel 2 Imperial Britain + Australia & New Zealand (i)

This topic has been split in two:

The students have been introduced to a short colonial history of the UK and have worked with key concepts such as inequality, pride, respect, and power-relations between people, and a recurring theme has been "before, during and after colonization".
Focus has first been put on the UK as a colonial power and then we have worked with Australia and New Zealand both with focus on colonization and post-colonial issues. In relation to Australia, The Stolen Generations and The Dreaming have been recurring topics with focus on identity, language and culture.

We have worked with Hoffstede's theories about power relations within groups , and last, English as Lingua Franca has been touched briefly upon as well.
