Titel 2 Crime in Fiction

In this theme the pupils will work with the crime genre and learn about its characteristics. In particular the students will look at setting and its importance to the crime scene. Furthermore, we will focus on the narrative of the different crime stories we have read. For example, what is held back and is the narrator reliable? Suspense is particularly important in making a suscessful crime story.

Titel 3 Social Media

This theme will be about how our lives are affected by social media. We will read texts about the negative and positive consequences social media has on us. Selfies, dysmorphia and trolls are all terms we connect with social media and we will look at articles that explain how these phenomenon have been created through social media. In regard to negative consequences of social media, pupils will also work in groups at the argumentation behind conspiracy theories such as anitvaxxers, Q-Annon and Flat Earthers. They will also see the film The Social Dilemma which deals with the consequences that social media has on society.

We have worked with the following texts and films:

Titel 4 The Hunger Games

Pupils will learn the difference between utopias and dystopias and the traits that are connected to dystopias. The pupils will read the novel The Hunger Games . Therefore the setting is important in regard to making an analysis of the dystopian world the main character Katniss finds herself in. Other areas that we will work on regarding an analysis of the novel is making a characterization of the main characters, structure, symbols and themes as well as the style of language that makes up the science fiction genre the book represents.
