Titel 1 Choices and consequences (EKSAMEN)

In Choices and Consequences, you will be introduced to working with the genres fiction and non-fiction. You will work with different subgenres, including poems, articles, essays, films, and documentary films.

You will also learn how to write a discussion as part of a written assignment, focusing on how to present and argue different points of view.

Through the course, you will explore how choices affect people’s lives and the consequences that follow.

Titel 2 SoMe (EKSAMEN)

In this course, SoMe, you will explore how social media affects young people’s everyday lives. You will work with different genres, including a TED Talk, a short film, an article, and a documentary film.
You will focus on non-fiction analysis and learn to identify topic, main points, and language style.
Throughout the course, you will discuss both the positive and negative effects of social media and reflect on how it influences behaviour, identity, and relationships.

Titel 3 Evil

In this course, you will work with the theme of evil through both fiction and non-fiction texts. You will read and watch different texts with a focus on understanding what evil is and how it can be explained.

The course is based on Lars Svendsen’s theory of the four types of evil, which you will use to analyse and discuss the texts.

You will explore how evil can appear in everyday life as well as in more extreme situations. You will also practise analysing characters, motives, and themes, and discuss why people act the way they do.

Titel 4 Growing up

In this course, Growing Up, you will work with short stories and short films. The main focus is on speaking skills and analysing fiction, as well as analysing short films using tools for the written exam, such as sound and framing.

You will explore themes related to growing up, including relationships, identity, and important life experiences. Through the texts and films, you will practise understanding characters, themes, and messages.

Throughout the course, you will develop your ability to speak about texts and films, and you will strengthen your analytical skills in both fiction and short film analysis.

Titel 6 Diversity and multiculturalism (EKSAMEN)

In this course, Diversity and Multiculturalism in Britain, you will work with both fiction and non-fiction texts with a focus on the advantages and challenges of a multicultural society.

You will explore what it means that Britain is a multicultural country and how different cultures are part of everyday life. The course also looks at how immigration has changed Britain and how people experience diversity in different ways.

Through texts and films, you will discuss both positive aspects and possible challenges of multiculturalism. You will also focus on how young people live with cultural diversity and whether it is possible to feel part of more than one identity at the same time.

Throughout the course, you will practise analysing fiction and non-fiction, and you will work on understanding different perspectives on culture, identity, and belonging.

Titel 7 The American Dream (værklæsning) (EKSAMEN)

In this course we have worked with The American Dream and explored whether it is a reality or just an idea. We have discussed how social, economic, and racial challenges in the United States affect people’s opportunities. Through different texts and a film, we have worked on understanding and discussing various perspectives on the dream. We have also included more recent viewpoints and examined how young people today view The American Dream differently.

Titel 8 Global Voices

In this course, you will work with the theme Global Voices and learn about home, identity, and belonging. Through different fiction and non-fiction texts from around the world you will explore how people understand and experience the idea of “home.” We will focus on migration, cultural differences, and what it means to belong.

You will work with questions about what “home” means, why it can be difficult to define, and what happens when people move between countries and cultures. You will also look at how things like race, ethnicity, gender, and nationality can affect whether people feel included or not.

You will also practise analysing texts. You will work with tools like characterisation, symbols, repetition, and language. We will focus on themes such as identity, migration, culture, religion, and relationships, and how these shape people’s lives.

Titel 9 Liberty and guns (EKSAMEN)

In this course, you will work with the theme of freedom (liberty), gun culture, and violence in the United States. You will explore what freedom means and discuss whether freedom always leads to safety. Through a documentary, an animated short film, and a personal article, you will examine how fear and freedom are connected, and how they influence both individuals and society.

You will work with both personal and societal questions about fear and freedom, and you will discuss why guns play such a big role in American society. You will also analyse how films and texts try to influence the audience through emotional, critical, and persuasive language.

You will practise film analysis and text analysis. You will work with tools such as film techniques, language analysis, and argumentation. You will focus on how messages are communicated and how they affect the audience.

Titel 10 Canada (EKSAMEN)

In this course, you will work with the theme of Canadian identity. You will explore what it means to be Canadian and how identity is shaped by history, culture, and diversity. Through different texts, a commercial, and videos, you will look at how Canadians see themselves and how they are different from, and similar to, other countries, especially the United States.

You will work with both humorous and serious texts to understand ideas about national identity, stereotypes, and multiculturalism. The course also introduces you to the idea of Canada as a multicultural society and how this is reflected in both personal stories and official texts.

You will also practise analysing fiction and non-fiction texts. You will work with tools such as characterisation, tone, humour, and language analysis.
