English 1 Identities
For this introduction to English as a subject at 'HF', we are going to focus on 'Identites'/personality. We will practise how to analyse texts from different genres: A TED-talk, a short story, a poem, a spoken word film, a feature film and an excerpt from a novel. We will pay special attention to the differernt aspects that may affect our identities and chances to express these such as race, friends and families, environment, gender and sexuality.

English 2 Trad. Am. values and beliefs EKSAMEN
This topic takes its starting point in three pairs of traditional American values (as outlined by Kearny et al): Individual Freedom & Self-Reliance, Equality of Opportunity & Competition, and Material Wealth & Hard Work, and, not least, the notion of the 'American Dream'. Most of the texts we are going to read will be viewed in this context, and we will also look at the birth of a nation/a nation of immigrants and to an extent at whether the American Dream is available to everyone in equal measures.
