Beskrivelse af de enkelte undervisningsforløb (1 skema for hvert forløb)
Titel 1 Introduction to non-fiction

Forløbet er en forlængelse af grundforløbets introduktion til fiktion, idet eleverne nu udforsker forskellige nyhedsartikler, reklamer (både ads og commercials), dokumentarer og taler.

Undervejs stifter eleverne bekendtskab med Laswells kommunikationsmodel, AIDAS-modellen, det retoriske pentagram og SOAPSTone-modellen samt appelformer, stilistik, retoriske virkemidler og diskursanalyse.

Der udarbejdes analytical essay af Joe Bidens Uvalde-tale fra maj 2022.

I grammatik arbejdes der primært med verber.

Titel 2 US-1: American history and values - EKSAMEN

Vi arbejder med tilblivelsen af USA, dvs. immigration waves, push/pull-effekterne, the American Dream, the frontier, the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, the Civil War og udviklingen af ærkeamerikanske kerneværdier som fx can-do-spirit, freedom, self-sufficiency m.fl.

Der skrives en tale om A Naiton of Immigrants.

I grammatik arbejdes fortsat primært med verber.

Titel 3 US-2: American prison system - EKSAMEN

Vi har allerede tyvstartet lidt på dette forløb, da vi i forrige forløb samskrev tekstanalytisk essay af Mathieu Caillers novelle "Parole".

Vi arbejder herefter videre med argumentative essay om the American prison industry, inden vi sætter os ind i begrebet recidivism, og så læser vi Stephen King's "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption".

ELF - English as Lingua Franca:

Med udgangspunkt i sproghistorien afdækker vi bl.a. begreber som bad English, standard English and Received Pronunciation, American English og Black English, Global English, Un-English, Hinglish, Danglish og corporate English. Vi drøfter forskelle mellem American-English og British-English og lytter til udvalgte globale dialekter og taler også om engelsk som arbejdssprog i EU.

Eleverne arbejder med både skrevne tekster og mundtlige eksempler på accenter og dialekter samt non-native speakers bestræbelser ud i det engelske sprog.

I slutningen af forløbet udarbejder eleverne en selvstændig præsentation af den viden, de har erhvervet sig undervejs.

Sideløbende arbejdes der med grammatik, i indeværende forløb primært syntaktisk analyse, pronominer og hjælpeverber.

Også i indeværende forløb har der været specifikt fokus på optimering af mundtlig udtryksfærdighed og selvtillid i forhold til at tale engelsk, fx ved station learning-arbejde i mindre grupper, men vi har også arbejdet fokuseret på forbedring af skriftlige færdigheder, især set ud fra tilgængeligheden af AI; hvilke krav stilles der specifikt til tekstanalyse både mundtligt og skriftligt.

̶  forstå forholdsvis komplekse mundtlige engelske tekster og samtaler af en vis længde om almene og faglige emner fra USA og i forskellige stillejer

̶  skrive længere, nuancerede og velstrukturerede tekster på engelsk om komplekse emner med høj grad af grammatisk korrekthed, beherskelse af skriftsproglige normer samt formidlingsbevidsthed.
̶  analysere og beskrive engelsk sprog grammatisk og stilistisk med anvendelse af relevant faglig terminologi

Vi starter med det historiske indblik bl.a. i englændernes erobring af aboriginernes land og anvendelse som penal colony for straffefanger. Her afdækkes hovedtræk af aboriginernes  kultur og livsanskuelse, stolen generations og nutidens forsøg på at undskylde for fortidens fejl og inddrage aboriginerne i det moderne samfund, som både skal kunne håndtere immigranter, klimaforandringer og andre geopolitiske udfordringer, bl.a. i forholdet til USA og Kina.

Har du penge, så kan du få tilsyneladende alt, hvad du ønsker dig i denne verden. Men det er ikke altid lovligt - eller etisk forsvarligt. Vi ser nærmere på forskellige økonomiske og forretningsmæssige tendenser i engelsktalende områder: planned obsolescence, working for the super-rich, company profile Amazon, influencers and dark tourism, Trump hush money, consumerism, organ trafficking, kidfluencers, warfare ethics, overtourism and instagrammability.

Forløbet fungerer samtidig som repetition af teksttyper anvendt i engelsk og fagets klassiske analysemetoder. Der repeteres desuden grammatik.
