in this course, we will read both fictional and non-fictional texts about India. We will look at different aspects of the nation including technology, marriage and gender, but we will start by looking at the indian cousine

Titel 3 Novel

In this course, we will read the novel  ”Quicksand” by Nella Larson. She was an American novelist who had a Danish mother. The novel takes part in both the south and north of the United States, but also in Denmark. The protagonist Helga is like Nella Larson of mixed races. She is struggeling with her identity as a woman, mix-coulored person, american-danish descent, and as a human being. Fashion (and music) is a big part of her life. In the text reading, we will focus on the protagonist, narrator, environment and structure.  
The novel was written during the Harlem Renaissance, which we will give a brief introduction to in order to understand different aspects of the the novel.

Titel 4 Postmodernism

In this course on postmodernism we will focus on the details of the genre and how to analyse them, especially regarding in movies and animation. We will however also read a literary text by one of the key authors.

Titel 5 Sonnets

In this course, we will read some of Shakespeare’s sonnets. Particular attention will be given to a few Sonnets, which are a part of the ‘the dark lady’ sonnets. The Shakespearean Sonnets or the ‘English sonnets’ have a different style –both in mood and rhythm than the traditional Petrarchan sonnets or ‘Italian Sonnets’. We will explore both the rhyme, structure, mood and theme in the sonnets. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to make your own sonnet at the end of the course.
