Americans, Trump, and the Far Right
A theme started before the 2024 election about how the political right wing, including white supremacy, and evangelical Christianity in the USA are working together to get Trump reelected. United by a fight against abortion and a fear of independent women and black people. Also about the consequences of home schooling in evangelical families.
We will dig into the part of America that we do not easily understand. The one which is very different from “How I met your mother” or “Friends”. The ordinary people that vote for Trump, and the extremely right-wing people that support him.

Different Continent, Different English, Different Cutlure
The theme is partly an example of English as Lingua Franca – the world language – and how different it sounds in different places. And it is an example of why you have to practice and be really good at English, to understand the English spoken around the world.
It is also a theme about former colonies in Asia, and their relationship with the Western world, and the cultural differences between the continents.
