Folk Tales and Fairy Tales
In this course we worked with the folk tale genre, focusing on various analytical models to give us a foundation for discussing analytical methodology (i.e. What is the point of using models to analyse folk tales? What possibilities and limitations lie in each model?)
We discussed: The Contract Model, The Home-Out-Home Model, The Actantian Model, Propp/Zipes’ 8 Elements.

The focus of the course has been on clarifying the historical context through web-research, the different groupings and their values to establish a thorough idea of why the Irish- and Anglo-Irish Conflicts had such importance for the British Isles.

Invisible People
In this course, we worked with "invisible people". That term covers people who are overlooked, ignored and/or neglected in society. The highlighted groups in this unit are homeless, drug addicts/abusers, the elderly, healthcare personel and women. As a lesser part of the unit, we've worked on Lingua Franca and English as a global language through a series of cases and videos.
The focus of the course has been on the novel "Stone Cold" by Robert E. Swindell and rough living in the UK. The novel was reviewed and presented through the popular "BookTok"-format.
