Canada - Language, Power, Identity and Belonging
(Eksamensemne)
Dette forløb vil arbejde i dybden med canadisk identitet med et fokus på hvordan britisk imperialisme har sat sig spor i den canadiske selvforståelse. Igennem behandlingen af Canadas oprindelige befolkning, First Nations, Inuit og Métis, vil canadiernes opfattelse af
sig selv og deres nationale identitet blive belyst. Herunder vil spredningen af det engelske sprogs indtrængen i den oprindelig kultur være et hovedfokus med henblik på at undersøge konsekvenserne af koloniseringen, ”residential schools” og kulturelt folkedrab på de oprindelige folk i Canada.
