Titel 3 Literature and Society in Nigeria

The course has introduced important literary pieces and provided awareness of the diversity of how life unfolds in West Africa today. The class has also dealt with Nigerian history and important elements of colonial history. Literary aspects such as postcolonial aspects have been applied and issues such as kidnapping, HIV/AIDS, Boko Haram and poverty have been analyzed extensively.

Titel 8 American Perceptions of the Vietnam War+election

This theme studies the perceptions of the Vietnam war and the upcoming US elections.

Vietnam War:
-It presents key events in the Vietnam war as well as crucial problems in relation to veterans' affairs, domino theory and  international law in wars. Furthermore the theme has the ambition to point to how the war was also instrumental to and affected by new trends in the Western world and America in particular such as the youth rebellion, anti authoritarian ideas, hippie  culture, singer-song-writers and rock music.

Students have made projects in groups on various topics concerning the Vietnam
war and the era:
• The Indochina war from 1946-1954 (= “The First Indochina War”): Aksel, Nicklas, Oscar

Field trip to Copenhagen Library, the main building. Students chose a book in English based on their own interests and have read it and shared their experiences in 'reading clubs' formed by the teacher based on themes of the books. Furthermore we studied the evolution of the English language, English as a second language and as a lingua franca.
