Titel 6 Love and Dreams

Reading “The Great Gatsby” as a key literary work, we explore the topics of love, gender, and dreams across a range of literary texts primarily from the 1920s, including the dialectic between realism and modernism as a response to the modern predicament and the challenges of the American Dream from its inception. Students are responsible for group presentations, and we practice the general literary analysis and interpretation as well as the stylistic analysis.  Finally, through the topic of love and expectations of love, we connect modern literature to Shakespeare and his world.
