Titel 3	BRITAIN & BREXIT - WORTHWHILE OR WORTHLESS The next theme to be studied is entitled – Britain & Brexit: Worthwhile or Worthless? The underlying aim of this theme is to give focus on and to study the notion of Britain & Brexit giving attention to the causes thereof and the consequences thereafter. Relevant focus shall be given to the significant events leading up to the election, the vote, the voters and the circumstances and the ramifications of the outcome of the Britain’s exit from the European Union. In addition, consideration will be given to how Britain has come to terms with the process of leaving the European Union from a financial as well as a social point of view. Upon the completion of the theme a given problem statement is to be discussed via an individual oral presentation supported by an electronic media presentation to take place in the given TEAM. 1) The British public were arguably deceived into voting for Brexit. Titel 4	THE AMERICAN ELECTION - TRUMP vs. HARRIS The aim of this theme is to cover the run up of the up-and-coming American election on the 5th November 2024 contested by Donald John Trump (Republican Nominee) & Kamilla Devi Harris (Democratic Nominee). - The theme shall also set focus on the American electoral system. It is fair to claim that when the American people cast their votes in presidential elections, the whole world is watching and awaiting the outcome. - The consequence of the American Presidential Election not only has a major impact on the United States, but arguably on the world as a whole. Titel 5	PATAGONIA - LET MY PEOPLE GO SURFING This theme is going to study the American outdoor clothing company Patagonia. For many this American company has led the way in sustainability and environmental issues ever since its humble beginnings when Yvon Chouinard an accomplished rock climber, began selling hand forged mountain climbing gear in 1957. This theme intends to consider and give focus on the above statement to ascertain if the company Patagonia lives up to the above claim and is indeed a renown company with its business practices. The following thesis statement is to be put forward and studied during the course: "Patagonia is a world leader in both its environmental and entrepreneurial visions." Discuss. The theme intends also to give consideration to the issue of climate change and how companies are combating the notion of it business practices alongside the ever-increasing problem of climate change. As part of the HHX English Written Examination the student is expected to write a business email in English. In this connection as part of the above theme the course will focus on the 3 email writing functions previous English examinations have focused on: 1) Writing an email to deal with a problem/complaint. 2) Writing an email to make an appointment. 3) Writing an email to make/deal with a request. The course will also give focus to the correct use of salutations and valedictions.
