Gennem eksempler både på "True Crime" og "Crime in Fiction" undersøger vi forskellige mordsager, inkluderer Lars Svendsens "Four Types of Evil", forsøger at tegne en profil af (serie)mordere med fokus på "nature vs. nurture-debatten". I dette forløb om The United Kingdom beskæftiger vi os med centrale aspekter ved Storbritannien. Efter et kort kig på landets historie stiller vi skarpt på aspekter som klasseperspektivet, devolution, the North/South-divide. Vi går herefter særligt i dybden med Storbritannien som et multikulturelt samfund og fokuserer på, hvad det vil sige at befinde sig mellem to kulturer samt hvilke holdninger der er til multikulturalisme.

Dette forløb handler om dystopier i litteraturen. Hvad kendetegner et dystopisk samfund? Hvad er karakteristisk for protagonisten, der opholder sig i det? Og sidst – men ikke mindst – hvad er formålet med dystopiske fortællinger? Disse spørgsmål udforsker vi gennem læsning af dystopiske tekster (roman, romanuddrag, samt afsnit af en TV-serie).

The Great War (EKSAMEN)
Dette forløb har fokus på Første Verdenskrig, særligt propagandaen under krigen i form af war posters, og herefter det mere kritiske blik på krigen set gennem digte af Owen og Sassoon. Vi startede med en kort introduktion til krigen (the road to war, important battles and aftermath) og så desuden Youtube-interviews med WW1-veteraner, hvis oplevelser eleverne skulle gengive i et matrixgruppeoplæg.
På FokusDagen (temadag) d. 21/1 så eleverne filmen 1917 og lavede en kort filmanalyse af udvalgte passager, hvorefter de arbejdede med at udforme deres egne propagandaplakater.

South Africa (EKSAMEN)
I lærerplanen for engelsk står der, at I som elever skal opnå kendskab til "historiske og aktuelle forhold i andre engelsksprogede regioner [end Storbritannien og USA]". Vi kører derfor et forløb om Sydafrika med fokus på apartheid. Vi udforsker livet under apartheid gennem både fiction og non-fiction texts for at få en forståelse for den institutionaliserede racisme i det sydafrikanske samfund og hvilke konsekvenser, racismen har haft. Afslutningsvis kigger vi på forholdene I Sydafrika i dag.
