Great Speeches of History
This theme has focused on important speeches throughout history, primarily centered on the history of the United States. The students have learned about rhetorical devices and worked with concepts such as modes of appeal, types of arguments, and the use of metaphor in the selected speeches, for which the historical background has also been briefly outlined. Finally, the students have written and orally presented their own speech.

The Music Video
We will explore the genre of the music video. We will analyze and interpret different music videos in regard to a definition of the music video as a medium of remediation. The music video borrows from all kinds of other media - and we will investigate how!
Furthermore, we will focus on the technical aspects of the cinematic techniques and of course analyze the stories that are told through audiovisuality and the lyrics.

Understanding Horror (EXAM)
In this theme, we have explored the horror genre, primarily through excerpts from classic horror novels and a short story. We have also examined theories about what frightens us and why we are fascinated by horror—often either loving or hating the genre. We have compared horror texts from different time periods and also compared horror across various media, thereby discussing different linguistic and cinematic devices. To conclude the theme, we watched a postmodern horror film, listened to a horror podcast, and played a horror-themed computer game.

They have worked with shared examples as well as group-specific materials, which they have presented to the class. In this theme, we will focus on attitudes to nature and the impact of nature on man. We will also focus on nature in opposition to the city and city life through different periods. Finally, we will have a few examples of dystopian fiction with a focus on man and nature. In general, we will analyze poems, pictures, movie clips and speeches aiming at creating a bigger picture of society by linking the texts to historical, cultural and political aspects.

In this theme, we have worked with multiculturalism in the United Kingdom. We have read various articles that shed light on issues of integration in the UK and raise questions such as: What is it like to be an immigrant in the UK? And how do other segments of the population feel about multiculturalism? What is the difference between being a first-, second-, and third-generation immigrant? We have focused on historical, cultural, and societal aspects of the UK. In addition, we have worked with the English language as a global lingua franca.
