American values and The American Dream.
Formål:
Eleverne skal tilegne sig en overordnet forståelse af, hvem de første nybyggere i Nord Amerika var, hvor de kom fra og hvorfor de valgte at emigrere til Nord Amerika. Hvilke basale værdier var vigtige for disse første indvandrere og hvilken rolle spiller disse (historiske) værdier i nutidens USA. Dette belyses gennem en læsning om amerikanske basale værdier, en analyse af et maleri, en retorisk analyse af en tale af B.Obama og en læsning af værket Of Mice and Men fra 1936, for at se hvorledes disse basale værdier influerer på karaktererne i romanen.
