In this theme, students will work with Ireland's history, culture, language and religion. In other words, we will be looking at irish independence (The easter rising in 1916), A split Ireland (The Troubles), drinking culture, and not to forget the weight of the catholic church as well as Gaelic in Irish identity and self-perception
Additionally the story Small Things Like These (2021) by Claire Keegan and the corresponding movie adaption (2024) with Cillian Murphy, will be used to further highlight the above topics, as well as provide the literature aspect of the theme. We will also be watching parts of the show Derry Girls.
