Beskrivelse af de enkelte undervisningsforløb (1 skema for hvert forløb)
Titel 1 Growing Up

Dette forløb er centreret omkring emnet "growing op", herunder spørgsmålet om hvad det vil sige at være moden versus hvad det vil sige at være voksen. I slutningen af forløbet har der også været fokus på sociale mediers effekt på unge og deres mentale helbred under deres opvækst.

Eleverne har i forløbet arbejdet med fiction og non-fiction, med vægt på novellen, digte og artikler, og er blevet introduceret for engelskfagets grundlæggende metoder (P-E-E, fiction- og poetry-analysis, det retoriske pentagram), herunder grundlæggende analytiske begreber.

Ligeledes har der i forløbet været vægt på overgangen til gymnasiet både i det mundtlige og skriftlige arbejde.

Titel 2 The American Dream

Forløbet startede med en introduktion til det politiske system og præsidentvalget i USA ifm. valget 2024. Derefter har forløbet været bygget op omkring the American dream og USA som ”the land of opportunity”, med to underemner:
- Del 1: Immigration and American values
- Del 2: Inequality of opportunity and Black voices

I del 1 har eleverne arbejdet med immigrationen til USA i det 19.-20. århundrede. Dertil har de arbejdet med en række bærende amerikanske værdier med det formål at opnå en forståelse for hvordan individets mulighed for succes gennem hårdt arbejde, selvstændighed og vilje (can-do-spirit) er et bærende element i den amerikanske drøm.

I del 2 stiftede eleverne først bekendtskab med USAs "Charters of Freedom" gennem citater fra the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence og the Bill of Rights med det formål at give dem en bevidsthed om det historiske grundlag for borgerrettigheder og diskrimination i USA. Efterfølgende arbejdede de med tekster der har belyst udviklingen i sortes rettigheder fra the Civil War (”The Gettysberg Address”) og til the Civil Rights Movement og problemer med ulighed i det moderne USA.
  
Der er gennem forløbet blevet trænet både fiction og non-fiction analyse gennem en række forskellige tekstgenrer. Særligt fokus har været på poetic/rhetorical devices, characterisation, theme and message, modes of appeal og S.O.A.P.S. Derudover har eleverne arbejdet i et gruppeprojekt med at lave fremlæggelser med et digitalt produkt over filmen The Blind Side.

Titel 3 Hooliganism in the UK

Dette forløb har haft fokus på fænomenet football hooliganism i et britisk perspektiv.

Eleverne blev først introduceret for baggrundsviden om hooliganismens historie i the UK, herunder hvad en hooligan er, forskellige teorier om årsager til hooliganisme, samt hvordan hooligans er blevet håndteret og portrætteret af det britiske politi og medier igennem tiden.

Derefter har de belyst emnet ud fra arbejdet med 3 forskellige tekster - et essay, en film og en artikel - med vægt på hvordan hooliganisme-miljøet portrætteres og udviklingen fra "traditionel" hooliganisme i 70'ernes Storbritannien til "moderne" hooliganisme i Europa.

Analytisk har der været vægt på at træne eleverne i at analysere setting og atmosphere inden for fiction (filmen + Sunday in the Park-opgave), at vurdere en sender's reliability og argumentation inden for non-ficiton, samt begyndende filmanalyse.

Titel 4 EKSAMEN: Multicultural Britain

The purpose of this course is to introduce the students to central milestones in British history and identity. The focus is on the multicultural society today, but the course also draws parallels to the imperial era, the Commonwealth, immigration history and Brexit in order to describe some of the dynamics going on in Britain today.
The content of the course covers both theoretical texts, fiction text and films as well as non-fiction texts. Moreover, it is an aim to teach the students to analyze speeches, articles and fiction texts.

Titel 5 EKSAMEN: 9/11

The purpose of the course is to provide students with an understanding of and knowledge about September 11, 2001, as a significant event that has shaped American culture, history, and politics and has influenced the world in which the students themselves live.
The analysis of the texts will focus on source criticism, cultural reflection, and genre awareness.
Students will practice analyzing both fiction and non-fiction, and they are expected to be able to contextualize the analytical texts within the historical and social knowledge covered in the course.

Titel 6 EKSAMEN: First Chapters and Beginnings

Purpose:
In this course, the students have worked with the first chapters and openings of authentic novels in English. The course has centered on a compendium of theory regarding first chapters. Among other things, there was a focus on the opening lines of various novels. After reading and analyzing some well-known first chapters, the students selected a novel of their own choice to read in its entirety. This reading assignment culminated in an oral presentation in a format similar to the oral exam. The course placed high demands on the students’ independence in terms of reading the novel and planning their individual oral presentations for me.

Titel 7 EKSAMEN: South Africa and Apartheid

The purpose of this course is to provide the students with a basic understanding of:
1) what apartheid is,
2) the historical events that paved the way for the establishment of the apartheid regime,
3) the consequences apartheid has had and continues to have for the various social groups in South African society,
4) as well as how it has influenced South African culture and the various groups’ relationships with themselves and one another.

Key points throughout the course include discussions and reflections on the lives of Black people under apartheid, the resistance against apartheid, black consciousness, identity, forgiveness, and revenge.
