Inequality
Inequality
The course focuses on inequality in Denmark. We work with inequality and poverty, Bourdieu, functionalism, living conditions in Denmark, social mobility, social inheritance, gender equality, the ideologies and the significance of the welfare models for inequality. Furthermore, there has been a focus on the challenges facing the welfare state and the solutions to these challenges.
Learning Objectives:
- apply and combine knowledge and understanding from the subject's disciplines to account for current societal problems and discuss solutions to them
- use knowledge, concepts, and disciplinary contexts from the core curriculum to explain and discuss societal problems
- investigate correlations between relevant background variables and social and cultural patterns
- investigate concrete prioritisation problems in the welfare society
- demonstrate knowledge of the subject's identity and methods
- formulate social science questions and collect, critically evaluate, and use different types of material to document disciplinary contexts
- communicate the content of simple models, tables, and diagrams using digital aids
- communicate disciplinary contexts at the subject's taxonomic levels using professional concepts
- argue for own viewpoints on a professional basis and participate in a professional dialogue.
