Introforløb: Growing Up
I forløbet læser vi tekster fra en række forskellige genrer (novelle, digt, tale, artikel og film/tv-serie) om temaet growing up. Der er fokus på analytiske kompetencer, og at eleverne præsenteres for den faglige terminologi, der knytter sig til de forskellige genrer. Herudover arbejder vi med mundtlig sprogfærdighed, kreativ skrivning, basal grammatik (ordklasser, kongruens) og ordforrådsarbejde. I forløbet indgår desuden den obligatoriske screening samt tre mindre afleveringer.

Forløbet beskæftiger sig med amerikansk hip hop i et historisk perspektiv. Vi arbejder således med raptekster fra genrens fødsel i 1970erne til i dag. Undervejs holder elever oplæg om selvvalgte rapnumre og vi skriver stil om rapdebatten om rap og misogyni. Tekstanalytisk er der fokus på sproglig analyse af dels klangfigurer og dels sociolekter.

De underviser hinanden hinanden og laver øvelser til resten af klassen i deres emne.

I forløbet arbejder vi med temaet gender med fokus på fænomener som male misogyny, gender and sexuality in sports, feminism og incels i USA, samt spørgsmålet om 'consent'. Forløbet indfrier faglige mål om at opbygge viden om væsentlige strømninger i moderne amerikansk (og europæisk) kultur og har desuden fokus på analytiske færdigheder i arbejdet med forskellige teksttyper.

SRO-forløb: Inequality in the US
Forløbet indgår i skolens progressionsplan for Global Citizenship Programme, og er et tværfagligt forløb med samfundsfag, der tager udgangspunkt i det epokale nøgleproblem ulighed. Forløbet udgør desuden kursusdelen forud for SRO, som skrives med udgangspunkt i det materiale, klassen har arbejdet med i de to fag.
I den engelskfaglige del har vi studeret den amerikanske velfærdsstatsmodel og har i den forbindelse berørt emner som sundhedsvæsen, social security og uddannelse samt betydningen af outsourcing/globalisering. Det primære fokus i tekstlæsningen har været undersøgelser af, hvilke konsekvenser den stighende ulighed i landet har for amerikanske borgere.

Forløbet består af to hovednedslag: Colonial India & Partition (THEN) og Post-colonial India med hovedvægten på det nutidige Indien, herunder parlamentsvalget i Indien i april-juni 2024 (NOW).
Der læses et udvalg af såvel klassiske litterære tekster, ny litteratur og sagprosa og suppleres med klip fra dokumentarer, kort, og andet audiovisuelt materiale. Eleverne holder løbende mini lectures om forskellige emner relateret til Indien for at skærpe præsentationskompetencer og den mundtlige udtryksfærdighed generelt

GCP-faglige mål: Forløbet har til hensigt at at øge elevernes forståelse for nutidens globale problemkomplekser. I forhold til Indien er der bl.a. fokus på demokratiske problemer relateret til den økonomiske globalisering samt forholdet mellem kultur og nationalstat og teorien om orientalisme introduceres (Said).

I forløbet arbejder vi ud fra Sten Pultz Moslunds antologi
Everyone is Here
(Systime, 2021) med nye aspekter af det multikulturelle felt i Storbritannien. Vi undersøger de tre faser 'Arrival', 'Settlement' og 'The Indigene' med henblik på at forstå Moslunds tese om, at migration ikke længere er en marginal del af den britiske historie, men derimod en voksende faktor, samt hvordan kampen for kulturelt medborgerskab kan følges gennem alle faser.
Forløbet kredser desuden om forståelsen af de teoretiske begreber, der knytter sig til emnet, fx othering, super-diversity, conviviality og whiteness samt om forskellige sproglige aspekter, herunder forskellen på standard engelsk, etnolekt og sociolekt, samt engelsk som et lingua franca sprog.
Skriftlig arbejde om teksterne indgår for at konsolidere den faglige viden.
