To shed light on the situation, we have relied on reading both fictional and non-fictional texts .
The aim of this topic has thus been to nuance the students' perception of race in the U.S. and broaden their perspective on a complex matter.

The U.K. from Empire to Brexit
During this extensive area study, we have looked at various aspects that make up the U.K. This includes cultural, political, economical, and historical perspectives.
As part of the exploration of the area, the students worked with Brexit and the political climate in the U.K. This was introduced to the students through a Lecture by Jens Ladefoged Mortensen. In relation to this lecture, we focused on the economical situation along with the political handling.
Furthermore, our study of the U.K. has covered the political aspects in terms of the political system, the changes in European cooperation and the impact of the Monarchy. The students are thus aware of the current political situation as well as the fundament of the system.
Secondly, the cultural and diversity aspects of Britain were covered quite extensively. Using the book "Everyone Is Here – New Shapes of Diversity and Belonging in Britain", the students got an insight into the multiculturalism that great affects the U.K.
Lastly, we explored inequality in the U.K. in terms of Breadline Kids and the class based system.

This topic has explored the African continent through the lens of globalization. The reason for this focus in our area study is that contributes to SO5 on globalization with International Economics.
We will explore it as an area study with a brief historical introduction. Then, we will move on to look at demographic tendencies in the three areas Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
To accommodate the collaboration with IØ, the topic has had a focus on demographics as well as urbanization. To further limit an otherwise extensive topic, I have chosen the countries Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa as our point of departure, but it has not excluded text more broadly dealing with the African continent.
Furthermore, to explore the culture and history of these African country, literature has been used. This gave the students an insight into various narratives and avoid the danger of a single story as Adiche tells us.
