Titel 1 The English Game

Titel 2 Twisted Minds - Approaching Written Texts

Lazarus, Whitman and Hughes are read with the purpose of learning about how to read poetry and also to look at the America that is depicted through these poems.

Adichie's TedTalk inspired us to talk about the importance of learning about other culture's - mainly about seeing things from other people's perspective too, so that we don't always judge people and things based on only a "single story".

Adichie's, The Thing Around Your Neck, gives a more critical view on the American Dream - and the story holds an interesting POV.

As a brief interlude we learned about the developmant of the English language and English as a global language.

Finally, we watched the film, The Pursuit of HappYness and made a rhetorical analysis of Obama's speech.

Another about the illegal relationship between a white man and a black woman, and finally, one about the guilt wiyhin white people after the end of apartheid.

With Trevor Noah's memoir: "Born a Crime" we moreover learn more about what it was like growing up as a mixed race child in South Africa around the time when Apartheid was dimantled, and about the consequences the now no longer existing Apartheid system still has on South Africans today and why it is important, now maybe more than ever, to teach young people about the dangers of racism and unjust regimes.
