Titel 3 New Boy - Eksamensemne

We have read the entire novel New Boy by Tracy Chevalier.
We have worked with setting, characterizations and conflict.
We have worked with America in the 1970s and what the circumstances were for Blacks at that time.
We have looked into the historical references from the novel and we have discussed gender, racism and coming of age.
We have also looked at the novel as a rewrite of Shakespeare's play Othello.

Titel 7 War - Eksamensemne

In this course we have worked with war and on the experience of the individual soldier's experience in war and after war.
Homecoming and the delayed reactions
Modern day warfare with drones and how has that changed the game for the soldiers.
We have discussed the problems of PTSD and reactions when coming home and how to deal with post war experiences.
We have read several short stories from different periods and related to different wars, "Be Here Now", The Best Death Ever", "Redeployment", Soldier's Home", "The Balm of Gilead Tree".
We have also read an interview with a drone war operator "The Kills People from..." and a poem about the Ukraine war by Simon Armitage, "Resistance".
We watched the movie "American Sniper", Clint Eastwood, 2014 with focus on characterizations, setting and conflict and how the war was portrayed in the movie.

Titel 9 Great Britain and Multiculturalism - Eksamensemne

In this topic we have worked with and discussed class in Great Britain.
We have looked at Great Britain as a class society and how that is changing.
We worked with and extract from Kate Fox's Watching the English which analyzes British sociolects on food.
We worked with Grayson Perry's view on class through art.
We worked with George the Poet's podcast on being black in Britain and on the Grenfell tragedy.
We looked at the traditional class society in film and literature.
We discussed what it means to your status being an immigrant or of a different ethnicity.
We have read Loose Change, Just below the Surface and Lech, Prince and the Nice Things with focus on class and immigration.
We have discussed what kind of prejudice does an immigrant meet through the voices of Ted Ilyaz and Riz Ahmed and the short film Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times.
We have looked at variations of the English language with MLE, English as a Lingua Franca and sociolects.
We watched episode 1, Season 1 of Boarders, 2024 and analyzed the episode in terms of characterizations, setting, class and conflict.
We have worked with Adichie's The Danger of a Single Story and A Private Experience as examples of multiculturalism and Britain's history as an empire. We have looked at the history of the empire and on the poems, The White Man's Burden and The Black Man's Burden.

Titel 10 Sports - Eksamensemne

In this course we have primarily worked with football as a sport and as a cultural phenomenon. We have read the short stories Faith" and "Wales" with focus on what sports / football means in the stories. We have looked at the good guys the football, Gareth Southgate and David Beckham and Ted Lasso. We have also looked at toxic masculinity traditionally connected to English football and hooliganism. Through that we have looked at gender and the campaign, "He's Coming Home". We have analyzed speeches by Gareth Southgate and Abby Wambach. We have looked at gender in connection with sports and how women's sports are undervalued compared to men's sports. We read an extract from André Agassi's autobiography "Open" with focus on how parents can drive their children's career in sports. We watched an episode of Ted Lasso and analyzed it with focus on gender, masculinity and differences between England and the USA.
