Through a variety of texts we will focus on the interplay between sport and society and how physical performance(s) and athletes alone or as a group add more to their sport than performing unique physical acts. How has sport historically and worldwide been seen as the arena for performances of also ideological or political importance? We will look at a number of iconic sports men and women in the 20th and 21st centuries to understand the wider cultural, political and social impact of physical mastery.

In this study unit we explore human nature and the darker aspects of the human psyche. Through a combination of non-fictional materials, such as presentations of renowned psychological experiments, and fictional works like extracts from Ellis' "American Psycho", "Button, Button," and "Just Like That" we will  investigate the complexities of evil.

The learning aims include understanding the concept of evil, analyzing its manifestations in society and individuals, and exploring ethical dilemmas associated with it.
