Titel 2 The Hunger Games

Vi har læst og arbejdet med romanen The Hunger Games af Suzanne Collins.
Fokus har været på klassisk tekstforståelse, overblik, tekstanalyse, kreative opgaver, og samarbejde og mundtlig dialog. Eleverne har fået kendskab til grundlæggende analysebegreber til fiktionstekster: character analysis, setting, themes, etc. og samtidig har de fået styrket deres læsefærdigheder og ordforråd.
Efter dette forløb vil vi arbejdet med genren ’Dystopi’, hvor vi vil trække på vores viden fra romanen.
Sideløbende med arbejdet med romanen har vi grammatisk arbejdet med verbalkongruens og verbets tider.

I forlængelse af værklæsning af "The Hunger Games" introduceres genren 'dystopia'. Eleverne bliver bekendt med karakteristika og begreber forbundet med genren og kan identificere disse.
Eleverne har analyseret filmen 'The Hunger Games' med fokus på cinematic techniques og sammenlignet filmen og bogen. Derudover har eleverne læst den dystopiske novelle 2BR02B med fokus på genrekendelse og fiktionsanalyse.

Titel 4 Multicultural Britain [EXAM]

Multicultural Britain

I dette forløb har eleverne arbejdet med Multikulturalisme i Storbritannien med et fokus på Brick Lane (området, romanen og filmen).
I forløbet har eleverne defineret multikulturalisme - herunder hvad der kendetegner "Melting Pot Theory" og "Salad Bowl Theory" – og har fået kendskab til den historiske baggrund for indvandring til Storbritannien. Eleverne har derudover arbejdet med centrale begreber som push/pull factors, ligesom de har lært at skelne mellem begreberne migration, emigration og immigration.
Forløbet har derefter fokuseret på det multikulturelle område Brick Lane, hvor eleverne først har karakteriseret området ud fra statiske data og faktuelle oplysninger. Derefter har eleverne arbejdet med fiktionsanalyse af romanuddrag af ’Brick Lane’ og filmatiseringen af denne. Fokus har været på hvordan man som immigrant oplever Storbritannien og kulturforskelle.

Titel 5 Climate & Sustainability

Forløbet har fokuseret på menneskets forhold til naturen, overforbrug af ressourcer og klimahandlinger. Eleverne har arbejdet med begreber som carbon footprint, the anthropocene og climate action, og de har deltaget i workshop om klimahandlinger.  

Eleverne har i forløbet analyseret fiktionstekster, som har tematiseret overforbrug og menneskets forhold til naturen. Derudover er non-fiction analyse blevet introduceret og de har analyseret en explainervideo og en tale af en klimaaktivist. Slutteligt har eleverne arbejdet med at lave blackout poetry om klima og bæredygtighed ud fra uddrag af klima-noveller.

Titel 7 Rhetoric - and the American Election [EXAM]

In this topic we examine the art of speaking by reading and listening to various speeches. We will have a particular focus on the American Presidential election 2024 and be examining the campaigns of the Republicans and Democrats. We also produce and perform our own speeches with a particular focus on rhetorical devices targeting the subject and the audience.

In this topic we examine the role of the English language in a global world. We will be working with English as Lingua Franca (ELF), examining the British Empire and also analysing posters produced by the Empire Marketing Board to promote the British Empire during the 1920's. We will be examining differences between British and American English and different variants of English in the world. Finally, we will be touching upon race and multiculturalism in relation to the English language.
