Tema: Choices
Formål med undervisningen:
I dette forløb udforskes temaet "Choices" gennem en dybdegående analyse og diskussion af en række tekster og multimodale værker, der spænder fra litteratur og film til indflydelsesrige taler. Formålet er at udvikle elevernes kritiske tænkning, deres evne til tekstforståelse på engelsk, og deres indsigt i, hvordan valg influerer personlig og kollektiv identitet.
Eleverne vil lære at identificere og diskutere valgmuligheder og konsekvenser inden for forskellige kulturelle, historiske og personlige kontekster. Dette vil fremme en dybere forståelse af sprogets rolle i formidlingen af komplekse ideer og værdien af forskellige perspektiver i beslutningstagning.

• Digtanalyse og filmanalyse: Fokus på at identificere tematiske elementer, sprogbrug, og narrativ struktur.
• Sagprosaanalyse og retorik: Dybdegående undersøgelse af talekunst, overbevisningsteknikker, og formidlingsstrategier.

I forløbet Global Voices har vi fokus på begreberne home, identity og belonging. Gennem læsning af skønlitteratur og sagprosa fra forskellige steder i verden dykker vi ned i følgende spørgsmål:

- What happens to the notion of home for people who have migrated from
one place to another (from a home country to a host country)?
- Why would ideas about race, ethnicity and gender exclude some people

Diversity and Belonging in Britain (EKSAMEN)
I forløbet Diversity and Belonging in Britain ser vi på nye måder at forstå og arbejde med temaer som multikulturalisme og diversitet. Der vil være fokus på den seneste udvikling i black litterature, der viser, hvordan det multikulturelle samfund i Storbritannien er gået ind i en ny fase. Vi ser f.eks. at immigration og kulturel mangfoldighed ikke længere er undtagelsesvise brud på det normale, men er blevet til en ny normaltilstand, der tegner samfundets udvikling og påvirker alle borgeres liv og færden uanset farve og baggrund.
Der er altså fokus på nye kritiske perspektiver og begreber og nye måder at læse multikulturel litteratur på.
Det er også i dette forløb vi kommer ind på "English as lingua franca" med udgangspunkt i David Crystals iagttagelser.

I forløbet Canadian Identity dykker vi ned i Canada som et andet engelsktalende område end Storbritannien og USA.
The purpose of this course? What are we supposed to learn?
1) Different representations of how Canadians perceive themselves and their national identity.
2) How they see themselves in relation to their neighbor to the south, the USA.
3) Place these aspects in a theoretical context by reading Benedict Anderson's theory on the nation being an "imagined community".
4) Put these aspects and ideas into perspective with your own national identity and community.
At the end of this course you should be able to:
a) Summarize key aspects of Canadian identity.
b) Analyze a representation of Canadian identity based on some of these key aspects.
c) Discuss the limitations and possibilities that national identity provides for a nation and the individual.
