Formål:
Introduktion til skønlitterære tekster og analyse heraf samt åbne op for små diskussioner, således eleverne vender sig til at tale engelsk og bruge fagudtryk.

Titel 2 Great speeches (BLO)

Vi arbejder med centrale taler på tværs af (fortrinsvist amerikansk) historie: Abraham Lincolns ”The Gettysburg Address” (1863), George W. Bush' 9/11 speech (2001), Martin Luther Kings ”I have a Dream” (1963) og Greta Thunbergs ”Plea for the Planet” (2019). Vi ser også filmen The King’s Speech (2010).

* Nedslag i (fortrinsvist) amerikansk historie
* Analytiske begreber til analyse af non-fiction (ikke-fiktion)
* Oparbejde ordforråd, grammatik

Titel 3 Sports; identity and politics (BLO)

The theme ”Sports, politics and identity” examines the relationship between sports, identity and politics. The first part of the theme focuses on sport in the UK, primarily football, as football is the most popular sport in the UK, and they are home to the Premier League, the most watched league in the world. Central to our examination will be the British fan culture, which for many years has been affected by hooliganism. We will also look at the link between sports in general and politics, as sports have become increasingly political over the last few years. Here the students will investigate a case of their own choice, in which athletes have taken a political standpoint or been activists fighting for a specific issue.
