A course about power and powerlessness. About how people crave power and what power does to us, once we have it. About political power, physical power, power in the use of language, and basically about how power is exercised.

Titel 2 The Empire Writes Back - Post-Colonialism

A course about British colonialism and its aftermath. We have focused on colonial India, from a British and and Indian point of veiw, and on how India has built a nation afterwards, as a post-colonial state. We have thus touched upon Indian Independence and Partition and the challenges India faces and has faced in becoming a modern state and superpower. We have used post-colonial theory and investigated various aspects of post-colonialism, such as language, the use of English as a lingua franca in India, identity, history writing and more.

Titel 3 Man and Nature

A course about man and man's relationship with nature. We took our starting in English Romanticism and American Transcendentalism and looked at various representations of nature and how our lives and state of mind have developed with events such as industrialization and urbanization. Finally ending in our own era, looking at the role nature can play in balancing life in a modern society.
