Titel 1 Growing up

Through the reading of different types of texts the students have been introduced to a number of genres and aspects of English. The goal has also been to give the students some analytical tools necessary for a systematic text-reading and understanding.
In the final part of the course the class worked with the English language as well as English as a Lingua Franca.

The class read:
--The short-story 'Just Like That'.
--Excerpts from the novel 'The Love and Lies of Rukhsana Ali'.
--The poem 'It's Tough to be a Teenager'.
--The article 'New research shows young people are using the social media platform to nurture relationships, find support and become more socially conscious'.
--The article 'What is Standard English'.

The class watched:
--The movie 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'.
--The YouTube video 'Why Did English Become the International Language?'.

The class did a project work and presentations on different countries and cities.
