Titel 1 Growing up

The main focus of this theme is the process of growing up and the transformation into adolescence. Childhood experiences are often crucial for our further development, and whether we cherish them or we repress them, they will continue to follow us into the next chapters of our lives. However, as significant as they may be, every individual will change drastically during the transformation between childhood and adolescence. Children face insecurity, loss and conflict while growing older, and yet they gain independence and develop their personalities. This theme highlights different aspects of this transformation and raise questions about the inevitable contradictions between these stages of life.
We will be studying various texts, both fiction and non-fiction with the purpose of improving our knowledge of genre, analysis and interpretation.

Keywords: innocence, honesty, relationship, friendship,  conflict, loss, deprivation, insecurity, loneliness, recklessness, independence, expectations, pressure, development, growth, childhood lesson, youth, identity, self-esteem, discover, explore, reject, choose, learn, challenge…

Titel 4 Exploring Space

Exploring Space (Tværfagligt forløb med Eng A & Fysik C)

Long before the discoveries of Copernicus and Galilei, scientists and philosophers have been preoccupied with space. Indeed, in terms of space exploration there seems to be an irreversible human urge to defy prevailing worldviews as well as political ideas. On several occasions, nations have been pitted against each other in a competitive race to explore and conquer space. Therefore, they have conducted research, invented technologically advanced equipment such as satellites and spacecrafts elaborately designed to be sent into space and even land on the moon. Undoubtedly, the consequences of such endeavor; great scientific progress has been made and this has inspired everybody, not only scientists, to present the human experience of space, in speeches, in literature, in songs, thereby creating multifaceted space narratives. Consequently, the focus of this theme will be to study different perspectives of English space narratives.
- Why do people want to explore space?
- What are they going to do with the knowledge they acquire about space?
- How do people create space narratives - in science, in politics, in literature, in music?

Titel 5 Crime Fiction - Part two

Crime Fiction (part two)

Haddon, Marc, "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the NIght-time"
Published by Vintage Books London (2004), the novel was originally published in Great Britain in 2003 by Jonathan Cape.

In this particular part of the curriculum, we resumed our theme "Crime Fiction". A that we have had to put on hold for some weeks because of the interdisciplinary theme "Exploring Space".

During our continued exploration of Crime Fiction, we have analysed and interpreted a novel by Marc Haddon, "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time".
The focus of our study has included:
- genre
- narrative technique
- composition
- characterisation
- conflict/crisis
- contrasts
- themes
Finally, we will put this analysis and interpretation into perspective with other examples of crime fiction.

Analysis and interpretation of horror stories:
Introduction to the genre of horror fiction from the anthology "Horror", edited by Rasmus Drisdal & Rikke Riktrup Hansen, Systime 2017.
Factfinding on Sigmund Freud's theories on the human mind & Stephen King.
Focus on King's three types of terror as well as vocabulary exercises.
Pre-reading exercises for "The Boogeyman" by Stephen KIng (1973), as well as analysis and interpretation of this short story.

Factfinding on Edgar Allan Poe.
"The Tell-tale Heart" (originally published in 1853), https://www.poemuseum.org/the-tell-tale-heart.

"The Man Who Loved Flowers", by Stephen King (originally published in the August 1977 issue of Gallery, and later collected in King's 1978 collection Night Shift).

Specific focus points:
- Discussion of the blurred lines between crime fiction and horror fiction.
- Explanation of genre features in fiction and horror fiction (how does crime fiction differ from horror fiction? And which similarities exist in both these literary genres?).

Titel 6 Sustainability within the fashion industry

Sustainability and recycling within the fashion industry
