The U.S. - Residential segregation
Residential Segregation in the U.S.: The 1950-1960s are usually remembered in the U.S. as an era with substantial changes in relation to many of the nation’s racial issues. Voting rights were secured, formal segregation was abolished, and cultural norms started changing. But there were also aspects of American society that did not change all that much. This topic focusing mainly on the case of Yonkers, NY deals with the issue of residential segregation, i.e. the fact that many people in the U.S. live in certain areas, sometimes marked by relatively high levels of homogeneity. How do we understand this phenomenon, where did it come from, and what is being done about it?

Macaulayism
Macaulayism refers to the policy of introducing the English education system to British colonies. The term is derived from the name of British politician Thomas Babington Macaulay (1800–1859), who served on the Governor-General's Council and was instrumental in making English the medium of instruction for higher education in India.
The topic focuses on reading colonial litteratur which can be seen as either a commentary on this practice or how have characters who can be seen to represent this practice.
