3:4 Horror EKSAMEN
Horror
Teksterne er bygget op efter ovenstående to forfatteres princip, hvor horror deles i tre tilgange; A mirror of the human psyche, a mirror og society and a mirror of human nature.
Analytiske FOKUSPUNKTER:
- narrative techniques and suspenseful writing: setting, narrator, point of view, showing vs. telling, foreshadowing elements, how to create suspense.
The three approaches to horror Introduction | Horror
Horror fiction allow us to vent(express) our "forbidden" aggressions and our feelings of hatred
Horror satisfies our curiosity for the different and extreme
Horror gives us the opportunity to prove our courage.
Horror fiction opens a gateway to the repressed and hidden parts of our minds
Horror plays on our fears of crises in society.
Horror fiction works simply because it triggers our innate instincts of survival and gives us the biochemical kick we get, when we are facing danger.
Sounds, familiar places that we normally associate with something nice, the dark, the unknown, zomie virus, suspense, anticipitation, silence, the chance of dying, jump scares, super natural things, psychological films.
1. A mirror of the human psyche
Teori: They are not what they appear to be, and their ability to transform challenges our established sense of order (e.g Dracula, Psycho 1960, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde).
Critique of the genre: It is dominated by men, and feminists have criticized the genre for its tendency to demonize feminine sexuality and reaffirm a conservative view of traditional heterosexual, male masculinity as the norm, by presenting everything else as the dangerous uncanny other.
