Multiculturalism in the UK (eksamensemne)
Multiculturalism - a blessing or a curse?
Som en del af kernestoffet 'væsentlige historiske, kulturelle og sanfundsmæssige forhold i Storbritannien og USA, er fokus for dette forløb multiculturalism in the UK og forløbet har et pædagogisk sigte at få en masse mundtlighed ind i gruppearbejdet.
Forløbet vil blive afsluttet med en introduktion til Lingua Franca, hvor vi bla. vil tale om fordelen og ulempen ved at anvende Lingua Franca, sproglige fordomme og om hvorvidt det er vigtigt overhovedet at kunne tale som 'a native speaker'.
Eleverne skal især arbejde med følgende begreber:
multiculturalisme

language as weapon against discrimination
British culture as the dominant culture
assimilation
salad bowl
push and pull factors
Lingua Franca (Lingua Franca betyder et sprog der bruges som fælles kommunikationsmiddel når to personer ikke taler det samme førstesprog (f.eks. hvis en dansker og en kineser taler sammen på engelsk, fordi danskeren ikke taler kinesisk og kineseren ikke taler dansk).

Skriftlig skal eleverne selv skrive en rapsang i grupper og analysere en anden gruppes sang ud fra rap-analysebegreber.
Mundtligt skal eleverne aflevere en opgave, hvor de diskuterer multiculturalism to og to ud fra det de har lært i forløbet.
