In this theme we have analysed and interpreted the novel Animal Farm from 1946. We have talked about modernism and intermodernism and placed George Orwell as an intermodernist writer in the interwar period, where propaganda was on the rise and words were used as a means of power. We have had a focus on propaganda and other angles. We have discussed how to interpret the novel as an allegory of the Russian Revolution. Finally, we have discussed whether/how to categorize the novel as a dystopian novel.
