Titel 1 Theme 1: The American middle class

This theme will focus on middle class America or rather what used to be Middle class America - the rust belt - and which is now one of the battle grounds for the Presidential election. We will focus on the two VP candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz and the constituents they are both meant to appeal to.
We will return to the theme on Nov 5th (Election Day) and Jan 20th 2025 to discuss the inaugural address.

We also watched the movie Hillbilly Elegy (Ron Howard, 2020)

We read the following pages from Barbara Kingsolver's Demon Copperhead:
p. 104-106, 112-113, 240-44, 277-80, 396-98, 510-17, 522-26
The excerpts focus on how the opioid-crisis and Appalachian culture is depicted in the novel.
