The unit focuses on non-fiction and fiction texts about different aspects of food.

After the unit you will be able to:

- distinguish between the different approaches to food in fiction and non-fiction texts
- discuss figurative language and metaphors used in the fiction texts/films of the unit
- spot and discuss the ways of appeal used in the texts/films of the unit
- explain how Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a parody of the disaster film genre

Titel 2 Crime in Fiction

Crime and Fiction

The unit will look at different ways crime is expressed and presented to the reader and the viewer.

Special analytical attention is paid to a literary classic and a modern short story, both within the genre of crime fiction. We will focus on characters, setting and point of view/narration. Another focal point is the introduction of film analysis.

After the unit you will be able to:
- account for different kinds of crime fiction
- discuss the popularity of crime fiction
- discuss the difference between American action-packed tradition vs. British low-keyed tradition
-  use the analytical terms characters, setting, and point of view/narration

At the end of the unit you will be able to:

- define and discuss the different approaches to travelling reflected in the dualism 'traveller' vs. 'tourist'

At the end of the unit you will:

- know many facts about New Zealand in the areas of history, geography, government, language and religion
- be able to discuss elements of New Zealand identity
- be able to rephrase two Maori myths: 'Paikea and the Whale' and 'Rona and the Moon'.
- be able to discuss how the film 'The Whale Rider' reflects the myth about Paikea and the whale and applies it to the conditions of modern Maori + also how it is used in the Disney film (Vaiana/Moana, 2016).
- be able to discuss the aspect of growing up in Whale Rider, Moana and Pig Sticker.

Titel 6 American politics and contemporary issues

I dette forløb undersøger eleverne amerikansk politik. De får et bedre kendskab til det politiske system og de to politiske partier republikanerne og demokraterne. Fokus har været på arbejderklassen, abort og immigration. Eleverne har arbejdet med retorisk analyse samt diskurs analyse. De kender til appelformerne: patos, etos og logos.

Forløbet har haft til hensigt at undersøge holdninger og forhold i USA i og omkring det amerikanske valg 2024.
Desuden har eleverne analyseret valgvideoer af de to præsidentkandidater og lavet deres egne.

In this unit, you will get an overview of the four waves of feminism. You will read a central piece of fourth wave feminism, "Dear Ijeawele" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
The goal of the unit is to understand the dialogues that feminist texts participate in and create - and to explore the social and political contexts of each of the waves of feminism.
Furthermore, "Dear Ijeawele" can both be categorized as a manifesto and an epistolary novel, and the opportunities and limitations of these genres will be explored.

Titel 13 Fight Club and postmodernism (Værklæsning) (EXAM)

In this course, students have read Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Fight Club at home, while classroom activities have framed the novel through relevant thematic, theoretical and cultural perspectives. The course has focused on masculinity, consumerism, postmodern identity and psychoanalytic approaches to literature.

Students have worked with literary analysis of the novel, as well as media analysis, visual analysis and contextual material. At the end of the course, students worked in literary circles, where they prepared and presented an independent group analysis of the novel.
