Initially, all students give oral presentations on topics related to India. We wrap up our work with India by shifting focus to Pakistan. This entails a translation exercise and some research on Pakistani food.

Titel 2	Young & adult We will analyse a selection of short stories from the latest 50 years of English and American literature. Furthermore, we work with a fiction film. Special attention is given to the theme young and adult. These two terms overlap, and in many of the examples we work with, it is evident that adulthood is not necessarily connected with maturity and responsible behaviour. The read thread in this topic is open-ended questions: What does it mean to be young? What does it mean to be an adult? Can words bring about change? We delve into a series of important political speeches, many of which were given in Berlin that is also the goal of our student trip. Furthermore, we investigate Greta Thunberg's use of English as a lingua franca to spread awareness of the 21st century climate crisis.

Indhold	Kernestof: American Minimalism. We finish our analysis of "Cat in the Rain" and begin reading a 1980's short story by Raymond Carver. 21st century journalism

What is journalism today? We discover similarities and differences between printed newspapers of the 20th century and the plethora of news sources in the digital age. Traditional terms of news analysis such as the broadsheet/tabloid distinction and the inverted news pyramid guide us through the current situation of journalism in the US and the UK.
