The Curious Incident
Vi læser Mark Haddons roman "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time".

Utopia vs Dystopia
During this course we read (and watch) examples of both dystopian and utopian fiction (some of it is both at the same time). With the help of relevant concepts and theory we will try to establish what constitutes utopian/dystopian fiction and whether this fiction tells us as much about the time in which it was written as it does of some dystopian or utopian future.
With The Truman Show as our basis, we also work on PEE-structured writing.
Materials:
UTOPIA AND DYSTOPIA (compendium) including the following texts:
George Orwell "1984" (1948) (extracts from Chapter 1 and Chapter 20, from "Fields of Vision")
Ray Bradbury "The Veldt" (1950)
"The Truman Show" (1998 film directed by Peter Weir)

Eng as a Global Language & Postcolonialism
OPGIVES TIL EKSAMEN
Vi fokuserer på English as a Global Language og RP (udtale og status) samt på den postkoloniale litterære bølge i de tidligere britiske kolonier. I den forstand følger forløbet op på vores tidligere forløb om The Rise and Fall of UK Then and Now.

Reading Hemingway
Desuden læses 2 Raymond Carver -noveller, "One More Thing" (1982 ) og "They're Not Your Husband" (1976), som eksempler på den post-Hemingway definerede genre "Minimalism".

Crime Fiction

Romeo and Juliet
