We will be looking at and discussing the power of language through a broad lense of issues, among others race, identity and etnicity. Core texts are from the anthology "Language and Power", ed. Tine Vedel Eriksen. (Colombus: 2013)

Welcome to the world of Shakespeare! We will work with the historical, cultural and societal aspects of some of Englands most formative years in terms of language, culture and drama. This course takes its beginnings in the excerpts found in Fields of Vision (see below) and we will finish the course by reading, analysing, discussing, perfoming excerpts of Macbeth.

Mainly through poetry, we'll discover the literary characteristics of the period + coupled with student led presentations on certain poets and their work (s). The historical background of the period will also be looked at.
