Beskrivelse af de enkelte undervisningsforløb (1 skema for hvert forløb)
Titel 1 The Divided States of America

After the students having carried out background research on the American legislature, the American judicial system, the Capitol Riot and the two Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates, we have focused on analyses claiming that American politics and American society is becoming increasingly polarized. Also, we have analyzed Trump's characteristic use of rhetorical tricks with a special focus on how these tools aim at deepening this polarization. Finally, we have watched the film "Crash" from 2004 which adds some perspective to the debate on polarization since it delves into some of the many fault lines in a USA that is ideally a melting pot but in reality more of a pressure boiler threatening to explode at any time.

Titel 3 New Zealand

OPGIVES TIL EKSAMEN.

After a short introduction to New Zealand as a tourist destination, we have focused on the relationship between Pakehas and Maoris.

After having read the novel "Once Were Warriors" from 1990, we have looked at the topic from a more contemporary angle.

In the process we have tried to answer questions such as:
- are there any significant social and economic differences between Maori and Pakehas
- what is the role of heritage and belonging, both on a personal and a political level?
- what are present challenges, and who is responsible for acting on them?

In relation to looking more closely at the language in "Once Were Warriors", we have discussed the role of English as a global language and as a lingua franca.
